Rich brown in colour with a sweet malty aroma with a hint of marshmallows. Malty and balanced, this is a decent brown ale. The bitterness comes through nicely at the finish. Very drinkable. rayOfBeer (319), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 7, 2008 Poured from tap a darker shade of brown with smallish light-tan head. Aroma was a mild roast with a bit of nut and malt but little carbonation. Flavor was dry with mild bitterness, roast, malty, nutty, and a light maple syrup. I found this one a bit light on flavor for me. Ok for sipping but not spectacular, was thinking about was else I could have had instead. ahalloin (54), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 21, 2008 I had this beer at the Sierra Nevada tasting at the Brickskeller in DC. It pours a dark brown fluid that seems to be filtered or "lightly filitered" with the characteristic Sierra Nevada head. Always fluffy, with great retention. The aroma is of dark malt and bread with a touch of sweetness. A taste reveals subtle hints of brown sugar, maple syrup (maybe) with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Good beer. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 12, 2008 Pours a hazey, semi clear brown colour with a medium tan head. Rumbles full of nuttiness, fresh roasted coffee, vanilla and maple syrup. Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated, othewise smooth and creamy- lots of sweet, not overly rich roasted malt and nutty flavors. bbp182 (255), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA
