| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 17, 2009 Draft at Taco Mac. Pours an amber brown with a thin off-white head. The aroma is malty with a good bit of fruity esters, subtle toffee and chocolate maltiness, and a very light tartness. The flavor is surprisingly unlike anything else made by Sierra Nevada - no American hops. It is mildly malt sweet with a strong doughy yeastiness and distinct "Belgian" ester characters. There is pleasant semi-sweet combination of nutty, toasty, caramel-toffee malts and light tartness/acidity. The finish is somewhat dry with a sweet and mildly tart malt complexity and very moderate earthy hop bitterness. Overall, a surprise from Sierra Nevada (who makes "double bocks" that taste like IPAs). Pretty good, though not fantastic. hopdog (5591), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Smelled of banana, wheat, and spice. The flavor was spicy, lightly tart, bubblegum, and banana. Had a fuzzy yet smooth mouthfeel. I was afraid this was going to be brewed using the standard SN house strain of yeast but I was wrong. Almost had some hefeweizen qualities. Not bad. rudolf (1774), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 14, 2009 Tap @ Pizza Plant. Ruby/amber body, light tan head. Nose is saison yeastiness, alcohol, some roasty malt, clay & flowers. Flavor is bitter yeast, lots of alcohol, some nutty malt. Overly bitter - either spices or hops. Kinda like a nut brown done w. saison yeast. Way too much booze. egajdzis (3626), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 11, 2009 Tap at Rose & Crown. Medium-brown color with an off-white head. Funky aroma with caramel malt and mild fruitiness. Flavor slightly sour and funky, with sweetness from the caramel malt and a little grain. Balance is not great. Palate medium with a little tart bite. Not terrible, but far from SN’s best.
