| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 2, 2009 Tap at RNH. Brown beer with a thin white head. The aroma is loaded with clove, banana, and a lot of spicy rye character. Flavour has a decent amount of complexity. Light spicy flavour up front followed by some estery (not banana) fruit. The flavour has a bit of tartness and a light peppery character. Fairly malty with a lingering chewiness. It doesn’t really do it for me... a number of interesting components, but it never reallly comes together. Sammy (4013), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 2, 2009 On tap at Cole’s. Aroma of spice, yeast and malt, pleasing. Dark mahogoney brown colour with lots of white head that leads lace. Served too cold, its still good drinkability, full mouthfeel. Spicy brown, a good cross-style. Hops and spice in the finish, with pepper remaining on the tongue. biznizness (937), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA

Good beer, fairly interesting I guess, but didn’t really leave a lasting impression. Probably would go with something else next time. yobdoog (1460), Woodridge NY, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 1, 2009 Brown hazy pour with a fluffy head. Pint at Max’s. Nice spice to add to the malt, yeast, and bready body. Fairly drinkable and very sessionable for a beer like this. Not bad. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 30, 2009 5/06/2009: Sierra Nevada Brown Saison has an elegant appearance. It is deep chesnut/ruby brown in color with a beige head. The beer has a slight dry aroma with some fruity and caramelized malt and spicy undertones. The flavor has lots of stuff going on in it including bubblegum, dry berries and cherries, cherry, cooked berries, and some underlying caramel maltiness. It has a dry finish and the alcohol is hidden (but becomes more apparent at is warms). I really enjoyed this beer and was quite impressed with its complexity.
Pint (draught; 7.9% ABV) at the Sierra Nevada Artisan Ale Experience at Olives in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rating #61 for this beer.

Aroma is spice, light chocolate, Belgian yeastiness, caramel/chocolate malts. Taste has the saison yeast & spice up front followed by a wierd sweet & sour wine like twang. Some chcoolate maltiness deep into the palate. Interesting concept but falls a tad short pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA
