As I overheard a fellow imbiber comment "I think this beer tasted like white wine, bread, and cranberry juice," I couldn’t help but agree. The finish is vinous and tart, with a sour fruit quality that meshes well with the bready malt flavors. The dark brown-red color is nice, capped by a large white head. Nectarines, berries, and tart apples pop out of the aroma. The body is lean and dry with smooth bubbles. I was a bit skeptical (this being my first Belgian-style beer from SN, but I would have ordered a couple more of these if I could have. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 2, 2009 On tap at Cole’s. Aroma of spice, yeast and malt, pleasing. Dark mahogoney brown colour with lots of white head that leads lace. Served too cold, its still good drinkability, full mouthfeel. Spicy brown, a good cross-style. Hops and spice in the finish, with pepper remaining on the tongue. bhensonb (4339), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 13, 2009 Draft at Sacramento Brewing. Very dark, but translucent, brown color. Decent little beige head. Rather malty, slightly funky, aroma. Medium body with mild carbonation. Seems to have a touch of vanilla, mild Brett, and rather spicey hop. Not so funky as many Euro saisons, but the style is recognizable. The color and malt are a bit shocking. Finishes less than dry, still astringent, and very pleasing. crazyvin (1254), New York, USA
