Aroma of citrus and grapefruit. Lots of bitter and citrusy hops in flavor with some caramell and a faint grassiness. Bitter long lasting aftertaste. A great beer. Nebulor (109), , California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 7, 2009 Pours an amber color with an off white, maybe off tan, head and lots of action with some yeast suspension. Smells like a caramel malt beer with some pine aromas in the hops, like a winter warmer APA. Taste has the medium bodied caramel malt flavor with the grapefruit hops balance. Drinkability is good for those who like winter warmer APAs. OHscar (16), , Sweden
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 7, 2009 Bottle 2008. Hazy amber colour and big whte head that fades away fast. Very hoppy and with a long aftertaste. It’s good but I’m not crazy about the long bitter aftertaste. Ljunkan (399), Karlstad, Sweden
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 4, 2009 Bottle (2008) from Systembolaget. Pours an amber color with a big white head. It settles down after a while and leaves some lacing on the glass. Nose has plenty of fresh of hops: pine needles, citrus, grapefruit, apricot and resin. There’s also some malty caramel found. I also got some slight note of strawberries. Flavour is hoppy with a very nice bitterness. Some sweet malty caramel/toffee notes shines through. Lots of pine needles, citrus, grapefruit, apricot and resin in the flavour. Notes of strawberries even here - nice! Long, bitter aftertaste. Medium bodied in the mouth with medium carbonation. Very drinkable, flavourfull and tasty IPA. I can understand why they ran out of it at my local Systembolaget store just in a few ours! One extra point for the pleasant strawberry note I thought I felt. rbrazell (57), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 3, 2009 Pours a clear amber with a small pillowy manilla head. Nose has tons of fresh citrus hops. Flavor is the same with great balance . Dry finish. Butters (1651), Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 2, 2009 2008 bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber with decent off-white head and fair lacing. Nose is malty, with a dark fruit, and rummy esters and spicy hop. Flavor is a nicely balanced sweet malt with solid earthy hop bitterness. Medium chewy body with a soft carbonation. Lingering bitter finish. I know many people who wait all year for this to come out. I’m not really one of them though. But this is still a solid ipa. nathan30533 (158), Dahlonega, Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 2, 2009 Not my favorite IPA. Smell of hops and malt, little spice. Taste is long lasting and that of a hoppy IPA. Too long lasting for my liking though. Good, not great. ChainGangGuy (2592), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 2, 2009 Appearance: Clear, deep, dark copper body with a small, white head.
Smell: Fragrant blanket of hops with scents of citrus, soap, and pine overlaying a rudimentary pale maltiness.
Taste: Pale malts with a clean, though transient malt sweetness. Big push by the hops, with flavors of rosin, lemon-scented soap, and grapefruit pith. Moderate bitterness throughout. Oh, but the humble malts fight valiantly to regain some ground, but, sorry, it’s game, set, match for the hop bitterness. Slight grassiness. Long, lingering bitterness on the dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Very light stickiness to the mouthfeel.
Drinkability: A Celebration of brash, simplistic bitterness which, if that’s your bag, is fine, but I never ever quite understood all the hoopla for this beer.
