6 mo. old bottle sampled at Alan’s HSC initiation, thanks Bill: I really find I can’t go wrong with Sierra Nevada. Average perhaps, but not wrong. Light orange pour, aroma of fresh citrus rind and winter fir. Flavor is citrus hop with a very nice toasted malt backbone.

Nice nighttime cool weather beer. Great head and nice appearance, but the overall taste is a little less punchy then the aroma would indicate. I’m good for 12oz of this stuff with a late dinner.

07, 12 oz bottle. Poured a ruby red, with a small head. Fruity hop nose. Definitely a piny floral hop flavor to it, similar to the pale ale flavors, but with much more flavor and body.It has some form of winter type evergreen spice in there, one that I could not discern. the finish is fairly bitter, and fairly long lasting. Nice tasting and good quality beer.

Bottle from cdumler’s fridge. Pours a pale slightly hazy red with a large frothy head. Good lacing and retention. Floral hop notes make up most of the aroma. Citrusy hop taste... very bitter but fairly smooth. Slight medicinal finish.

Had a couple of these last November ’07. From memory, I recall this being a really flavorful IPA with notes of maple syrup, fruit, and pine. The mouthfeel is well crafted, a good mixture of slightly creamy palate and medium carbonation.

Golden Amber with a nice white head. Lots of hop bitter in the nose, and as others have nicely noted, funky, earthy notes. The taste is bitter but has some nice balance, especially as it warms, though the finish is bitter. Palate is consistently lively though a little sticky for me. Good beer.

Poured a nice medium amber color with a thick white head. On the nose I get some hoppy citrus. It has flavors of nuts and slight citrus, but with a very nice, but bitter hop finish. Also some pine flavor. It does warm you up, which is nice for any winter seasonal.

[350ml bottle from Tesco’s Reading] I had the 2007 vintage. On opening this gave off a gorgeous sweet malty smell. However, the taste is so overwhelmingly bitter that any other flavour was completely overwhelmed. Maybe I had a bad batch or something as other reviews here seem to be generally positive, but I have to say this was one of the natiest beers I’ve had in a long time - I struggled to drink it. Sorry!
