SDbruboy (1819), San Diego, California, USA May 13, 2008 On draft from SDBrewCo during CBC. This was listed as a DIPA, and stylistically seemed to fit the category. Arrived a clear orange amber color with a small, creamy white head. Nice crisp hop aroma, with lots of citrus and florals, summer fruits and hints of pine. Puckering hop profile, more citrus and pine, Sierra Nevada house yeast character and some toasty malts. Medium body, tingly carbonation. Enjoyable.
KrausenJockey (331), Stockton, California, USA Apr 29, 2008 At CBC, San Diego. A wonderful pile of beautiful hop aromas and a crisp clean hop flavors. This was one of my favorite surprises at the conference. This would make an excellent addition to the portfolio if they were to make it on a regular basis. nightrider (227), encinitas, California, USA Apr 28, 2008 On tap at PP Solana and this was labeled Double IPA. Had to try it! Clear golden amber with thin white head. Fair citrusy hoppy aroma. Very nice smooth syrupy mouthfeel. Upfront hoppy bittterness and citrus backbone. Pleasant finish. Good but not off the charts in flavor profile! Doctormirk (100), USA Feb 10, 2007 On tap at the brewery. This beer was a pleasant surprise. A bit like a beefed up version of the Sierra Nevada Pale ale. Reddish amber hue with a foamy head. A well developed focus on hop flavor with bitter citrus flavors. Good carbonation. Lemon scent and taste. Not as "spicy" as some American Strong Ales-this one leans more in the direction of a well balanced IPA. Glad to see the Pale Ale has been making it to the gym.
