Commercial Description:
Double DEBOCKel is brewed in the style of the traditional German doppelbock but with our original Sierra Nevada spin. At the start, our Double DeBOCKel is roasty and malty; it has a rich caramel character, a light bready flavor and mild, pleasant sweetness. It has silky-smoothness resulting from along aging period at near freezing temperatures, and hides its hearty strength with modesty. Double De BOCKel is a boisterous beer that finishes clean; and in true Sierra Nevada fashion the use of a healthy dose of hops leaves the beer surprisingly dry, with nothing but a full-body warmth and a faint malty memory left behind

On tap at Draft Magazine’s Big Pour in Mesa. Pours a clear amber with light tan head. Nose is citrus hops and malt. Taste is tart citrus, malt and alcohol. Medium mouth feel. Not sure it matches the style, but I liked it due to the hops profile.

The aroma is pretty fragrant and perfumey with some citrus and doughy malts. Golden pour with a nice head and sticky lacing. Moderately sweet and malty - like cookie dough with some floral and citrus hops in the finish too. Creamy body, nice hoppy finish.

Crystal clear bright medium golden amber. Thin, loose white head. Sharp boozy nose, lots of earth and dry leaves there as well. Crisp, light, slightly fizzy body. Twang, diacetyl, earth, and dry leaves on the mid-palate, along with some salt. Not much happening here, none of it much good.

tap @ sierra. Not thrilled with this offering. Poured light golden and thought I was getting the wrong beer. Soft carmel hops and a bigger hop backbone than I was expecting. Maybe I was looking for more flavor It’s ok.

So this is a blonde dopplebock. Pours a bright semi cloudy golden colour with a hint of orange near the bottom. Head is large and flowing, creamy and sort of resinous. Aroma is bready, soft hops, caramel malts and toast. Taste is full and slightly hoppy. Big bright fruits ecspecially pear and peach. Overall nice beer, packs a punch thast for sure.
