Commercial Description:
Double DEBOCKel is brewed in the style of the traditional German doppelbock but with our original Sierra Nevada spin. At the start, our Double DeBOCKel is roasty and malty; it has a rich caramel character, a light bready flavor and mild, pleasant sweetness. It has silky-smoothness resulting from along aging period at near freezing temperatures, and hides its hearty strength with modesty. Double De BOCKel is a boisterous beer that finishes clean; and in true Sierra Nevada fashion the use of a healthy dose of hops leaves the beer surprisingly dry, with nothing but a full-body warmth and a faint malty memory left behind

Bright golden-amber colour. Toasty, deep earthy caramel nose. Rich bitterness. Toasty, lots of flavour, late alcohol. But it’s really messy, not bocky. Like the name I supposed but why would I want to drink that?

Tap at Barcade. Amber pour with almost no head at all. The aroma is lightly sweet and malty with lots of pale malt character and loads of alcoholic peppery aroma as well. The flavour is really terrible. Initially a thin bodied peppery booziness that is followed by a really harsh sort of herbal bitterness. It’s very hoppy, but using some sort of high-alpha, low flavour hops. I can’t believe that SN released this crap. It’s just a high-octane booze-fest.

Tap @ Front Door: Pours a golden color with a nice white head and nice lacing. The nose is sweet and malty with a fruity light green apple note from the yeast. Seems more like a helles bock with the light fruity sweet alcohol notes and a light dusty pilsner malt and husk note. Seems almost like a fresher version of a russian malt liquor or european strong lager. The finish has a light hint of alcohol with more green apple and some fig. Maybe a bit woody and well balanced. Whoa, 9.4%? Very hidden.

Pours a light pale copper with a thin head. Aroma is vodka and boozy right form the start and continues as it warms grassy herbal and solvent as well- sharp dark crystal and charred malts, with lots of phenolics. Flavor is a sharp sweetness, tons of alcohol spicy phenolics and bubblegum mintyness and a herbal grass-like finish- harsh.

Crystal clear bright medium golden amber. Thin, loose white head. Sharp boozy nose, lots of earth and dry leaves there as well. Crisp, light, slightly fizzy body. Twang, diacetyl, earth, and dry leaves on the mid-palate, along with some salt. Not much happening here, none of it much good.

The aroma is pretty fragrant and perfumey with some citrus and doughy malts. Golden pour with a nice head and sticky lacing. Moderately sweet and malty - like cookie dough with some floral and citrus hops in the finish too. Creamy body, nice hoppy finish.

Clear brown, thin beige head. Smells like toast, and maybe a hint if chocolate, I guess. Flavor is, well a little on the bland side, with some smooth malts and a subtle hop bite at the end.
