The first whiff from the bottle greets your nose with fresh citrusy hops. The beer pours out a stunning rusty red hue with a nice 3-finger thick head with great lacing. Citrusy hops aroma with a nice sweet/peppery malt 1-2 punch. The flavors are easy to enjoy and no need to delve into anything other than what’s on your palate...sweet bready malts and a nice dose of fresh hops. Incredibly easy to consume...I thought the hop/malt combo was spot on. I know it’s not really quite how the style should be, but damned if SN didn’t do this one right. JCastner (108), New York, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Mar 16, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a deep crystal clear amber with a slight white head. Aroma is all hops with almost no yeast or malt presence. Taste is very bitter at the front, with a little grain and then the fruity finish of the hops. One dimensional and disappointing. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Mar 16, 2009 Enjoyed via draft. Pours a light copper to dark yellow. No head. Nose is essentially non-existent. Flavor also disappoints. While it was highly drinkable, it had little, if any character of any kind. Overall, a letdown from the father of all craft breweries. lowgun1212 (85), Montclair, New Jersey, USA

It’s got a nice bite to it, and the bitterness lingers a bit and really dries out the mouth. Good. BelgianBeerGal (1303), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 13, 2009 Local 2009 bottle. Not bad but different than I expected. More of a hoppy character than the malt I was anticipating. Nice caramel appearance with a fluffy head and sticky lacing. verstellung77 (16), Charleston, West Virginia, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 13, 2009 Does this beer contain Rye or Wheat? Very dry and bitter finish. Probably better on a hot summer day than early spring.
