Aroma was bitter with some citrusy orange peel and some earthy spices. Flavor was dominantly bitter with a finish of spice. Decent ESB. Probably won’t buy again. lagomswedish (213), Umeå, Sweden

Was supposed to be tasting the Pale Ale at a beer talk but found this substituted instead - and thank goodness it was, as this beer made my evening. The combination of US and english hops delivers refreshingly different flavours, with earthy UK fruit countering the more assertive US aromatics. Nice malty start and pleasant bitter finish. Great mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Different and memorable. puzzl (2632), New York, New York, USA

The beautiful pour, combined with the lofty noble hops in the aroma instantly brings back memories of New Zealand. It may have been my untrained palate, but the usage of earthy, raw, old country hops was prevalent over there, with the American grapefruity tang a flavor of a far off land. This beer in no way fails to live up to those standards, and is as refreshing as a dip in a waterfall with every sip. This is a perfect spring beer, there is no doubt. Kudos on SN for crafting something so nice. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 15, 2008 Bottle. Dark nicotine yellow with a thick lasting foamy off white head. Nose-cereal, berry, mild hops. Taste-medium bitter, cereal, unsweet honey, tad too sweet, very fresh beer/cereal taste, seltzer mouthfeel, finishes like Alka-Seltzer. Overall everything is OK with this beer except for the fact that it tastes like Alka-Seltzer. Ljunkan (394), Karlstad, Sweden
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 15, 2008 350 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Nice amber color with a pretty nice head. As expected, this is a hoppy beer with pine needles, citrus and grassy notes. Nothing overwhelming, but good. The mouthfeel is, overall, dry. Goes down easy. The price was quite high though. I think I’ll stick to the regular pale ale if I want something from Sierra Nevada. BeerBiker (1392), Kathmandu, Nepal

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2008 Pretty good stuff, like a step down from the regular pale ale. A summer time pale if you will. Still has good substance. Sparky27 (1596), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 13, 2008 2008 bottle. Pours a clear amber with 3 finger rocky beige head that lasted about as long as a virgin on prom night. Nose is grassy, malty, hoppy. Palate is sweet malt at first that gives way to a lingering bitter finish. Light mouth feel with ok lacing. Decent for the style I suppose.
