The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of the orange-colored citrus fruits, dry grapefruit, other fruits and malt. It’s uncomplicated, well balanced and charming. porterhouse (1156), Alna, Maine, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2008 (Bottle (2008) from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/augusta/l target=blank>Lou’s Beverage Barn) A little lackluster...Pours hazy caramel-amber with four fingers of rocky biscuit head. Aroma is caramel, vanilla and some pine but overall kind of weak. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth but has a slight bit of pebbliness. Light-medium fullness. Quite a bit of lacing, rings and sheets, but a little sloppy. Taste is rather weak caramel and vanilla with fairly light bitterness overlaying. Finishes with a light bitter bite. Was expecting something really good along the lines of Fullers ESB based on my previous experience with Sierra Nevada but felt there wasn’t much here to get excited about. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 3, 2008 Poured from 12oz bottle a copper color with a large white foam head. Soft aromas of lightly toasted bread and some grassiness. Flavor of toasted bisquit with a caramel maltiness and a touch of sour grass, ending in a bittering finish. Palate is not very complex starting with a light malt mouthfeel with just a splash of sweet but quickly going to big bitter that diminishes through the taste and lingers at the end. Good flavor and easy drinking. Not the best but not bad either. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 3, 2008 Updated: Jul 4, 2008Orange tint with 3 finger head. Sierra Nevada always has a freshness to the aroma...even the malty porter, that invites one to drink. I think the fruitiness comes from northwest american hops..I could be wrong Malt is more prevalent than in the grapefruit tinged pale ale. This might be milder in character..but more even in overall taste. Ron (1022), Rochester, New York, USA
