Aroma of florals, citrus, and toasted grain. Flavor of floral hops, caramel malt, nuts, and a touch of maple with a light bitterness in the finish. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 11, 2008 Pours a light, hazy copper with a loose, off-white head that leaves behind a web of lace. The aroma is of fruity and bready malt with lightly earthy hops, in support. It’s fairly muted at first, but opens up with time, as it warms. Light to medium-bodied with soft carbonation it transitions to a bitter slightly dry finish. The flavor follows the nose: sweet, bready malt followed quickly by earthy and citric hop notes and a moderately bitter, flinty finish. This is fairly tasty, if not overly-hopped ESB. It’s worth trying if you enjoy the style. albertane (376), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2008 Bottled. This is a pleasant beer with a floral aroma and slightly spicy flavour with some of the expected citrus fruit but it would benefit from a stronger malt base. rmussman (905), California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 10, 2008 Sampled a six pack. Pours dark orange with a lasting lacey head. Aroma is relatively sweet and hoppy. Flavor is not too strong like most ESBs and does not linger. Overall pretty well crafted, not like Redhook ESB in any way but still well crafted. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Apr 10, 2008 2008 bottle. Pours a decent and lively cheddar orange with a curious aroma of pine and grapefruit (bitter???). Little bit of junior high boys’ locker room ass smell in there as well. Ugh. Flavor is a fart-infused ball of grapefruit pine with an aftertaste of wiry copper. Watery mouthfeel. Eh, Sierra Nevada has made better. btree (14), New York, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 10, 2008 I’m tasting the 2008. It has pine and grass in the aroma; pours copper with a slight haze; a generous ale head that dissipates quickly. There is sharp bitterness at the front with a hint of alcohol. Carbontation throughout and Cascadian hops in the followup; overall a nice dry beer. I have a little of the hops in the aftertaste; crisp and refreshing. This is very drinkable for its bitterness and simple for an ale. Exactly what is required of an ESB, with a Sierra twist. ruggedman (619), Portland, Maine, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 7, 2008 Amber pour with a white head. Dingy hop aroma and taste. Nice crisp finish with a good cascade bite (signature Sierra). I love it, perfect beer for spring very drinkable. carboloader (319), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 7, 2008 Pours hazy orange with tall off-white head. Lots of lacing. Crisp bite up front, followed by bitter finish. Alcohol is evident -- nicely balanced overall. Decent, but not as good as their PA in my opinion.
