Commercial Description:
Our ESB blends the best of English tradition with the boldness of West Coast style. A blend of malts featuring British-grown Maris Otter is balanced with the earthy spiciness of hand-selected English and US hops. The ale is left unfiltered which enhances mouthfeel and hop aroma creating a slightly reddish copper hue.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy caramel-amber color with a large foamy, soapy white head that lingered. The aroma was dryish, spicy and had a moderate floral hop note. The flavor was dryish, bitter and had moderate fruity and floral hops. There was only a light malt undertone and the hops really dominated. Faintly harsh.

12 oz 2008 bottle; Nose of malt and lightly floral hops; copper with a big beige head; flavor of caramel, a little lemon and light hop bitterness. Not all that hoppy! Looks great, good mouthfeel, but not all that tasty.

Sierra Nevada Early Spring Beer 6-3-8-3-15 Sample Tasting - Amber with white head. Roasted malt, bread, floral, citrus notes. Good balance of malt and hops in the flavor which is woody, bitter hops, dry malt, smooth and drinkable ESB.

This bottle was skunked so perhaps the rating will change with subsequent tastings. Purs an orange-amber with airy tangerine cream foam head. Mix of hops light malt and skunkiness in the aroma with a skunked hop flavor that dissipates into a cleaner, easier hop bitternesss.

Draught at the Seabreeze in Rio Del Mar. Amber-brown in color with a fluffy head. The aroma has earthy malts and grass. the flavor is the same maltiness and the hops give a woody dryness to it. Similar flavor hints of their pale ale, but drier and a little hoppier, with the english hop influence.

A highly forgettable brew from the folks at Sieera Nevada. Not much bitterness, not much overall flavor....hard to taste the English inspiration, as the commercial description states.

bottle. orange with a fat lasting head. citrus dirt nose. nice easy bitterness that gets more aggressive later on. lingering lemon and balancing maltiness leave a great lasting flavor that keeps calling for another drink.
