Rather simple nose driven by grassy hop, some citrus, and a little malt. Flavor has more caramel, some bready malt, minor hop bitterness. Carbonated body, rather thin. Rather refreshing beer, but this is bettered in many different sources. drseusszb200 (207), Florida, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2009 33 cl bottle, Fargo, ND, USA. Copper color, creamy head with lots of lace. Sweet hop aroma, very powerful spicy hop hit on the first sip. After a second sip sweet caramel syrup sneaks through. For something more widely available and in a normal price range this is quite a worthy hop loaded endeavor. Pawola22 (778), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a lightly hazed, dull-orange colored body with a finger-width, dense and foamy, off-white head that dissipates quicly and leaves a moderate amount of layered lacing. Aroma is earthy and spicy hops. Good amount of sweet caramel malts and fruits. Almost sharp citrus, melons, and pears. Flavor is malty with a a nice, well balanced bitterness. Begins with some sweet caramels before giving way to some resiny grapefruit citrus and woody hops. Some of that melon and peach in there too before finishing dry and grassy bitter. Long, moderate earthy lingering taste. Palate is medium bodied. Overall, a very solid beer with an above average bitterness. This may be rather unexciting compared to most California beers these days, but back in the day I’m sure this would be considered "intense." Nowadays, however, it may not be the most extreme beer out there, but its very well balanced and fairly bitter. If someone liked the SN Pale Ale, but hadn’t tried anything like the Stone IPA, this would be a nice segue into the typical hophead’s style of beers. Sregnar35 (730), Rotterdam, New York, USA
