Commercial Description:
This is one of the only estate-made ales available in the world today. Produced with hops and barley produced on the premises of our brewery in Chico, this ale reflects the flavors of our surroundings in California’s fertile central valley. By growing out own ingredients, we ensure the finest two-row barley and the freshest hops on earth, from the field and into the brew kettle.

24 oz. bottle from 2009. 1st Release. Pours a somewhat hazy deep copper color with a big and fluffy tan head that leaves chunks of lace on the glass. The aroma is full of pine and grapefruit. Medium to full-bodied. Nice mouthfeel. Great balance taste-wise. Starts off with some caramel and a biscuity maltiness. Kinda earthy. Grapefruit and lemons follow. A semi-crisp, drying, bitter finish.

Heavy orange at the top with fading yellow towards the vertex. Nice hop aroma. Gentle but mixes well with the spice. Some must. Taste is sweet hops that fade nicely. Good balance and mouthfeel. The finish is a tiny bit bitter but not unpleasant. This is very close to the IPA style.

Bottle and served in my SN pint glass: Beautiful coppery hue topped by a large frothy head which left very good lacework upon the glass. The aroma has notes of grassy and resiny hops, light pineapple citric esters, biscuity malts, and a touch of dusty vapours. The taste is mild but pungent hop bitterness balance with pale and crystal maltings. The finish displays a fair amount of hop spice and some metallic notes. The mouth feel is lively enough but does suffer from overly metallic finish. A solid IPA but nothing more, a tad one-note.

Served from a 24oz bottle of the 2009 1st release I picked up a OTM. The appearance is a rich clear copper with a full pale brown head. The aromas are rich with fresh hop aromas, earthy tones. The flavors follow that full fresh hop nose. Somewhere in between floral and earthy in hop characters. The mouth has a bit of a creamy edge to it to go with a mild bitterness.

Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival 2009. Reddish amber color. Sweet juicy and oily hop aroma with berries and hint of petrol. Juicy, berryish and fruity hop flavor with firm bitterness. Very smooth, drinkable and moreish. Excellent!

Orange brown amber beer with off-white rocky head. This dang stuff smells like paw-paws with a hint of citrusy hops. Flavor is very good, roasty malt, herbal hop bitterness, and paw paw. It tastes more like paw paw than paw paw beer does. Mouth feel is moderate. Overall, a nice beer.

Beer pours a beautiful orange color with a totally retained, off white colored head. Aroma is very hoppy, piney with some nice bread malt aroma. Flavor is nicely citrus, hoppy bitter with some nice malt cereal flavor to keep things balanced. Good, thick palate for an IPA

Bottle from Cavie. It’s smells like in the morning when you wake up late for work and throw on yesterday’s dirty undershirt as you run out the door. "Oh no, I’m late! There’s yesterday’s undershirt. I’ll just grab it to save time... oh, not as fresh as it should be." Taste is actually pretty good, but goes down slimy.
