Commercial Description:
Our Harvest Ale was the first American beer ever brewed with 100% fresh picked, "wet hops." In just one day, we harvest hops in Yakima, WA, ship them that night to our brewery in Chico, CA, and then rush them into the brew kettle as they are unloaded at dawn the next day.

This extraordinary effort creates a beer with unmatched aromatics of pine and citrus with layers of spicey sweet notes that hop fanatic like us dream of all year. Enjoy!

12th release 2008 wet hop. Nice aroma woody with fresh hops not very aromatic. Dark copper color great lace off white head. Earthy bitter and full in the mouth reminds me of a double red ale. Bitter all over the tongue but not too bitter. Nice balance. Delicious beer.

Pours a copper clear color with a light white head. Aroma is metallic, pine/woodsy. Flavor is nutty pine with metallic notes. Body is light with high carbonation. A good hop ale. I like the hops in this.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark copper with a pillowy off-white head. Lots of heavy lacing. Nose is sweet citrus, slightly astringent, resiny, with some fruity esters poking through. Taste is sweet and citrusy but a bit aspiriny as well, with a toasty malt character in there also. Mouthfeel is lively but not too carbonated, medium-full body. Very nice.

12th release, similar to Bigfoot although not as potent and satisfying. Not worth $6 for a 24 oz bottle.

~Pours a copper color with foamy off white head. Good lacing. ~Nice citrus hop aroma with mild caramel malts. ~Spicy citrus hop flavor, somewhat acidic. ~Medium feel, biter acidic finish. ~Good brew. An enjoyable bitter beer. Gets bitter as palate adjusts to the bitterness.

Pour gave an amber copper hue. Thick frothy white head. Fresh citrus with some maltiness on your nose. Medium bodied. Good balance of hops, sweet malt, caramel, and a good finish. Solid.

24 oz. bottle from 2008. 12th Release. A hazy, deep-copper pour with a big light-tan head. Lots of spicy citrus coupled with some sweet caramel in the aroma. Full body. Excellent balance. Sweet toffee and caramel flavors at the start with grapefruits and peppery spiciness finishing things off. Lingering dryness at the end.

Sierra Nevada 12th Release Harvest Wet Hop Ale is clear, sparkling and copper. The head is huge and fluffy; rocky and bubbly. It has excellent retention and leaves thick lacing on the glass. Incredibly fresh hop aroma. Smells like hops still on the vine. Spicy, sweet, juicy, piny-- yum! It is medium bodied, a little oily and quite smooth. The finish is pretty crisp. It is a well balanced flavor. The hops are full and juicy and backed up nicely by a big malt body. It is a little peppery. It’s mostly a big grapefruit peel and pine flavor. It tastes very fresh. Well crafted! I’m glad I can get two glasses out of this bottle!
