Commercial Description:
Our Harvest Ale was the first American beer ever brewed with 100% fresh picked, "wet hops." In just one day, we harvest hops in Yakima, WA, ship them that night to our brewery in Chico, CA, and then rush them into the brew kettle as they are unloaded at dawn the next day.

This extraordinary effort creates a beer with unmatched aromatics of pine and citrus with layers of spicey sweet notes that hop fanatic like us dream of all year. Enjoy!

On tap at the Drafting Room. I tasted both the 2004 and 2005 editions, and while they taste virtually the same, I like the hop of the 2005 better. The aroma is full of hops, citrus, and maltiness, as is the flavor. Pours a beautiful amber in color with a decently sized head. Goes down smoothly and leaves a nice coating on the palate. Overall....this and Three Floyd’s Alpha King are tied, I.M.O. A wonderful brew!

From the 24 fl. oz bottle. This one is the 2009 13th release. The pour is a fairly cloudy amber with a thin but frothy beige head. Good lacing on the pint glass. The aroma has a good dose of hops but there is also something soapy about it. It is not offensive; it is just odd to my nose. The mouthfeel is of good medium quality. The taste is bitter and tart like an IPA should be but there is also something in it that has a dessert-like quality. It seemed to fit right in after dinner. A dessert beer! Just like a dessert wine! Likeable brew overall.

ABSOLUTLY HANDS DOWN my favorite of the Sierra Family. As soon as you pour it,your nose is filled with grapefruit and citrus and pine.nice crisp bite but definitly not over-bearing.leaves a nice bitter yet floral film right on the base of the tounge.

13th release.. bottle. Pours burnt amber, pure white head. Grassy, slightly citrusy hops in the nose. Flavor begins heavy on citrus, sweetening to a malty caramel sweetness. Very nice.

24 oz. bottle, 2009. Wow, look at this beer. Pours a beautiful murky red amber, with a foamy, bubbly slightly yellow white head. Smells of a rich hoppyness only found in wet hop ales, pungent floral aroma, spruce and pine. Taste is a hoppy bitterness with surprisingly mellow finish. Slight yeasty quality to it, slightly syrupy. Overall an excellent brew from sierra nevada, gotta love ’em.

2009 bottling. Pours a relatively clear orange color with a small, off white head. Earthy, piney aroma; qiute clean with an underlying sweetness. Decent malt backbone holds up a somewhat fruity, citrusy body. Herbal finish. Decent brew.

On tap at Brixie’s in Brookfield, IL. and dispensed to a shaker. The color was a deep copper with some amber highlights. The lacing was off white, curtainy sheeting that lasted well. The aroma was a very nice combination of mid-fruit sweetness, light hints of resiny pine, and bright citrus. An "appropriate for the occasion" hop bitterness complimented these notes well in the flavor along with a nice dryness to the palate toward the finish. A flavorful and very well balanced strong American Pale!
