Commercial Description:
Our Harvest Ale was the first American beer ever brewed with 100% fresh picked, "wet hops." In just one day, we harvest hops in Yakima, WA, ship them that night to our brewery in Chico, CA, and then rush them into the brew kettle as they are unloaded at dawn the next day.

This extraordinary effort creates a beer with unmatched aromatics of pine and citrus with layers of spicey sweet notes that hop fanatic like us dream of all year. Enjoy!

22oz, 13th anniv release. Pours a clear dark reddish copper with an average beige head. Nose is subtle citrus and pine hops. Taste is caramel, lipton tea, pine, grapefruit, earthy hops. Not sure what they use, but i am guessing there are some combination of chinook, columbus and/or cascades in there. It is balanced with some semi-sweet graininess and some biscuit flavors as well. Body is medium, carbonation is medium to moderate. Not bad, but it could use some more fresh hops in the flavoring part of the boil and more dry hopping..gimme more fresh hops or gimme death!

2009 bottling. Pours a relatively clear orange color with a small, off white head. Earthy, piney aroma; qiute clean with an underlying sweetness. Decent malt backbone holds up a somewhat fruity, citrusy body. Herbal finish. Decent brew.

On tap at Brixie’s in Brookfield, IL. and dispensed to a shaker. The color was a deep copper with some amber highlights. The lacing was off white, curtainy sheeting that lasted well. The aroma was a very nice combination of mid-fruit sweetness, light hints of resiny pine, and bright citrus. An "appropriate for the occasion" hop bitterness complimented these notes well in the flavor along with a nice dryness to the palate toward the finish. A flavorful and very well balanced strong American Pale!

Copper pour with a small with a nice resilient white head. Aroma is loaded with fresh hop- dank pot nuggets, herbal tea, grass, pine resin, and more mild notes of citrus. Flavor is quite earthy with spruce, pine, hemlock, citrus, grass and lots of caramel sweetness to balance out the onslaught of dankness. Palate is smacking and sticky-sweet, finishing clean and slightly resinous. Another unique and excellently crafted brew from Sierra Nevada.

Pours out a dark amber brown with an off white head. Strong dank and wet aroma betraying the wet hopping. Notes of tea, sweet hops and wood that sticks in the nose. Flavor is rich and wet with strong earthy and leafy notes and lots of evergreen. Hop character follows to a nice balanced finish that just the right amount of sweet and bitter flavors.

Pours a dark copper/orange with a small white head. Aroma smells very fresh, with notes of dank nug, tea, peat moss, and resin; really nice hop character, with a bit of balancing caramel malt. Flavor is extremely earthy, with other notes of evergreen, herbs, and a strange note of peanut butter. There is some caramel sweetness, but the unique hop flavor dominates. Palate is consistent with a solid IPA. Really tasty brew from Sierra Nevada.

"Wet hop ale 2008". Amber color, small off-white head. Rye bready, hoppy aroma. Sweetish, caramelly, bready with some late hoppyness. Sierra Nevada "house flavor" is evident. Sweetier than other beers from "Harvest series".

Bottle. Great depth to the aroma, and all presumably from hops. Musky, piney pungency, earthy spices, and a very light citrus character. Beneath that there’s a touch of biscuity malt character. Clear amber with a thin head and slow carbonation. Flavor is hop-centric but not overly bittered. Nice balance between a firm astringency and a refreshing crispness. Very earthy hop tones, unique from this brewery. Finishes dry with some biscuit notes and lingering bitterness.

PINE. 24 oz bottle - 13th Release. Crystal clear amber pour with a white head. Smell is of honey, subtle pine scent in the background. Taste is hardcore pine tree - in a good way. Up front and in the finish. Little bit of honey in the finish as well - goes down smooth. A very well-crafted beer. Very, very impressed with this.
