Aroma was banana, clover, malts, and yeast. Flavor was sweeter. Fruit on the palate. Nice crisp clean finish. Another great brew from sierra nevada. Slipstream (785), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 12, 2009 Nice Sierra Nevada label. Pleasant aroma of malt, floral sweetness, yeast, a bit of citrusy tang, and a touch of skank. This is a nice, mellow, sweet hefeweizen. It is not too wheaty or nutty, but it is not weak and boring like some American wheat beers. Kellerweis tastes like ripe bananas with a touch of clove, and it has a sprightly finish. I can picture this becoming a very popular hefe in the USA. jeff789 (411), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 12, 2009 Aroma of muddled banana, clove, wheat and bubblegum... Flavor follows suit with the fruitiness of the yeast and the wheat shining through,,, Decent mouthfeel, odd styrofoam type finish... Flavors are a bit muddled... yinzerbeernut (63), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 11, 2009 On nose you get initially, what I call, the dirty old tennis shoe smell until it is settled. Once settled you get a ripe banana yeasty straw flavor. This golden murky hefeweizen is light bodied with a grain/yeast mouthfeel. poisoneddwarf (219), Rathdrum, Idaho, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 10, 2009 12 oz bottle. Aroma: initial whiff: not much here. After letting it sit a minute or so, the aroma reveals notes of banana, wheat. This is a beautiful beer whith great head retention and lacing. Flavor is so authentically Bavarian, I think a native Munich citizen would have difficulty differentiating this from classic German Hefeweizens like Hacker-Pschorr, Paulaner, or Spaten. Tastes like the aroma notes. Somewhat sour aftertaste. Another quality brew from one of America’s greatest breweries. Biggs88 (15), Philadelphia, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 10, 2009 Updated: Oct 13, 2009Very high quality. The pour shows a very hazy deep yellow beer. Then once you swirl the last bit from the bottle and pour it, the whole glass becomes a deep almost orange yellow masterpiece with a crown of uniform white gold foam. The aroma is very satisfying. Bury your nose into the clouds of summer. The scent is very classic wheat. Not only with the orange and spice, but with an extra layer of flowers and bananas. The taste is truely great. This beer has much more complexity than a normal Hef. First it starts out with a high quality wheat base. Very thoughtfully brewed with one intention. Taste. A few of the hints and undertones you can look forward to are: orange peel, lemon peel, flowers, bananas, light clover honey, and lavender. All of these flavors work with each other. There is no flavor conflict. This beer is a fine example of what American beer can be. Dedollewaitor (3764), Odense, Denmark
