Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

Kind of a sweeter, crisper more flavorful version of hoegaarden and without the aftertaste. Good stuff.

It pours a cloudy gold color. Aroma shows the traditional banana and citrus fruit. The palate shows the nice spices and rolls into an overall long and spice driven finish. A nice surprise.

Bottle. Pours hazy light golden coloured with a creamy lasting and lacing egg white head. Aromas of banana, spicy yeast, bubblegum and orange fruit. Flavours of sweet malt, tropical fruit, spice and banana. Great hefeweizen!

A Mes rate. Bottle at the Rake.
Orange brown colour with a thin white head and fairly clean for a hefeweisse. Big banana bubblegum aroma with very little else going on. Very similar flavour. Fruity esters all round and rather sweet. Good malt, good length of flavour just a little uneventful. It has to be said the body is superb. Thick and juicy with just the right amount of carbonation to prevent it from sticking. Faint tobacco in the finish and again the carbonation gives it a gradual drying feel. Overall a pretty authentic weiss but I would prefer it to back off on the sweetness and replace it with just a tiny hint of sourness. That done, it would be superb. As it is, it’s just good.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a hazy softly carbonated yellow-white colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was hoppy and floral. The crisp semi-flat mouth feel was tingly at the start with a mellow finish. The flavor contained notes of wit like malt and mild banana. An OK brew just nothing special.

Nice! I haven’t seen this one before! Light crisp aroma, quickly dissipating head reveals a golden haze with plenty of bubbles. Dry spiciness with a hint of clove flavor....A Nice brew!

Bottle. Hazy rich goldenrod pour with a tall white head, good retention and modest lacing. Aroma of fresh banana, vanilla, mild clove and just a touch of yeast. Banana and clove follow through to the flavor along with citrus note. Crisp mouthfeel along the lines of a kristalweis and a clean, flavorful finish. Might be the best American example of a German hefeweizen I’ve had.
