Bottle pour is cloudy yellow, with a foamy head that stayed thru most of the consumption. Mild carbonation is very well set for a brew such as this one. Aromas of lemon, citrus, slight sweet clove. Taste was very impressive, smooth, a little heavy in feel, notes of not-quite-ripe bananna, lemon, mild hops, and very good malts. I don’t know if I would call the flavors complex, but they all compliment each other very nicely. I do believe the open fermentation process attributes are noticeable in this brew. A very impressive, well balanced hefeweizen from a reliable brewery. ROGUE (670), Newark, Delaware, USA

Pours a hazy deep golden color with a thick soapy off white head, that settles into a ring. Aroma is full of spice, yeast, banana and light citrus. Nice spice flavor up front with hints of banana and just a bit of malt. Very mild citrus bitterness at the finish. Mouthfeel is light and crisp with soft fizzy carbonation. A very nicely done beer.

Pours a characteristically cloudy pale orange with an initially big, creamy white head. Retention is moderate, lacing generous.
Aroma is of banana, orange and yeast.
Medium carbonation and body, deliciously thick yet earthy mouth feel.
Weizen flavour is very similar to the German SCHÖFFERHOFER hef, meaning it’s considerably less sweetish than the Bavarian variety - perhaps, the Sierra Nevada is leaner still: Spicy, not very sweet, with a limited range of fruit (banana and citrus, the latter dominating), with a decidedly sour, moderately bitter finish and citrusy after taste.
Top-of-the-shelf hefeweizen, as good a beer as I’ve come to expect from Sierra Nevada. If you’re into the "real" hefe taste without the sugary elements, then THIS is your beer.
