Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

Pours cloudy yellow with big fluffy white head. Aroma is classic hefeweizen - lightly acidic, clove, sweet grains... Flavor is very good and clean, other people’s descriptions are good, but I’ll add that there’s a nice lingering bready flavor. Mouthfeel is foamy. Overall, a very nice beer.

Very well made. Cloudy yellow-gold with a bleached-white head. Smooth and soft on the tongue. Flavorful malt side had hints of white cake, wheat and biscuits. Hops were mild yet aromatic. Yeast esters were really nice, with hints of banana, lemon, clove and faint perfume. Nice balance. Pleasant beer. Seems to fit the style well.

This is an excellent beer from Sierra, very much up there with the quality of their off season hop beer. Very smooth with a great sweet taste. There is something to be said about the flavor.

Bottle. Poured a cloudy yellowish-orange color. The head was fluffy and white with good retention and lacing. Pleasant hefe aromas that included the likes of banana, light lemon, and some clove. Light body with a slightly chalky mouth feel. On the dry side of the spectrum. Tasted of banana, hay, and clove. Not as tasty as it smelled, but a nice hefe nonetheless.

Bottle. Pours a very hazy apricot amber with just a hint of a head. Aromas are a nice mix of pears, soap, cloves, bananas, and bubble gum. Pretty nice mix on the nose. Flavor is pretty solid, too... with all of the above showing up at some point in the program, with the addition of some citrus (oranges would be my best descriptor) midway through act one.

12 oz. bottle served in tumbler- poured a moderately hazy dark yellow, medium carbonation with clusters of bubbles on the side of the glass, foamy and inviting head laced nicely and tried to steal my wife! Aroma of bananas by the boat, citrus by the bushel, and clove by... insert your favorite bunch here. Hits the mouth with a high-weak body, malt is mostly wheat from the taste- but they didn’t use the grade "B" stuff, middle is where the cloves come out, a breadlike quality on the backend, finish is slightly sweet from the banana sensation, but very enjoyable. Hard to believe that an American brewer (aside from Sprecher’s & Old Hat) got a classic German down pat- and if you don’t like this brew, you’re STOOPID!!!
