Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

am in a phase of my beer adventures where I don’t buy the same beer twice when I go to the beer store... I have bought a six pack of this beer 4 times already. This is the beer that should restore our faith that american brewers can make hefe’s. This was stunning.... Smells of clove and banana. Pours a very cloudy dark yellow with a fantastic white head. Simply the best medium body and carbonation of any session summer ale I have had. Crisp and clean on every sip or guzzle. Flavor was mild and sweet with spice and banana. Quite Herby and spice and delicious.. I hope this is a year round product from SN

Bottle. Murky pale golden body with a fizzy white head that slowly diminishes. Nice aroma, though not overly strong, of banana, clove, lemon, toasted grain, bubblegum with a hint of sulphur. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The finish is lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter with a nice tartness at the very end. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. I’ve had several of these in the past few weeks and am tasting this one side-by-side with a Weihenstephaner. It is holding is own for the most part though not quite on par — the aroma is a bit weaker as is the body. Still, this is a refreshing, flavorful, well-made hefe.

Wonderful aroma of coriander and citrus orange peel. This beer poured a cloudy unfiltered golden color with tremendous head and lacing. It tasted as good as it looked with notes of banana, spice, and clove. Very refreshing and lively on my palate. This is the best German hefeweizen I’ve ever had! Near flawless score for superior craftsmanship.

Bottle. Pours a yeast clouded hazy golden with a creamy bubbly off-white head. Leaves a wide swath of white lacing. Lots of yeast in the bottle to swirl and dump in. Aroma is rich with notes of clove and banana, some sweet bubblegum. Flavor is not as rich asd the aroma, but mildly conveys a yeast rich bready character with lemony tart notes being more prevalent. Pretty nice and refreshing. Finishes tartly bitter that fades and lingers lightly. Full carbonation.

Bottle. Golden-amber beer with a cream colored head. Wheat, spice, and light banana aroma. Wheat, light spice, and light banana flavor. Medium bodied. Refreshing. Wheat, light spice, and light banana lingers. Solid.

Aug. 13, 2009; 12 oz. bottle. Golden & hazy, with generous, quickly-dissipating head; splotchy, slip-sliding lacing. Unusually flavorful, zesty & palate-pleasing for a hefeweizen. Remains light & citrusy despite ample evidence of a malt backbone. Probably the best example of the style I’ve yet tried. Not to jinx Sierra Nevada, but this brewery never drops the ball.

Hazed golden/orange pour with fluffy head and lace. Bananas and clove on the nose. Fruity banana and clove flavor. Medium full bodied with creamy soft carbonation. A very nice drinker

Bottle. Pours a deep hazy gold with a nice fluffy white head. Banana, bubblegum, hops, caramel, cloves and a lemony smell too. Flavor is very yeasty and full of banana. Light clove notes and very small hop bite. Very well done. Cheers.
