Aroma smells like banana laffy taffys. Lots of banana, clove and spices. Flavor is banana, clove, grain and some spices. Really tasty hefe. Smooth and refreshing and perfect mouthfeel. I thought I was not going to like this based on style and initial aroma but I would go out and buy a six pack of this. shp555 (1745), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 17, 2009 Beautiful murky straw pour, with tons of yeasty "floaties", a wispy head that leaves soapy lace. The aromas are of generous banana and sugar & spice cookies. The flavors have bananas, wheat, hints at lemon notes, yeast and tons of spices. The finish closes nicely on a dry spice. This is impeccably balanced, and a wonderful, wonderful example of the style. The mouthfeel is slick, yet substantive in body. Extremely complex, but nothing overdone, this is one incredibly put-together brew. zombywoof (362), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 16, 2009 Opaque, hazy and gold with lots of lacing. Generous aroma of banana, bubble gum, clove and spice. Restrained and balanced complex flavor. Simply one of the best Hefes around. Sierra Nevada does not disappoint. Hello new favorite Hefe. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 16, 2009 From a 12 oz bottle - pours a hazy golden color with a very thick, long standing foamy white head. Lots of lacing. Aroma of banana, spice, and yeast. Nice smooth taste of sweet banana, lemon, wheat and clove - much more of a German Hefeweizen than many of the American version but not overdone on the banana like some that try to be more German. Perfect balance. TAR (2097), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Updated: Dec 7, 2009Obscured lemon. Creamy stark-white froth displays good retention. Phenolic nose of plastic and clove, with subtler scents of dough, sulfur, dried pineapple and banana taffy. Soft, fine-bubbled carbonation. Thin and watery body. Initially spicy and arid with clove and sharp plastic notes, yet notably toasty as well. Not a whole lot of vibrancy to speak of, as the rampant toastiness creates a disagreeable tandem as it joins the overripe banana/banana taffy qualities. Though the body is fairly dry, dabs of baked apples exacerbate the dullness while contributing substantial flabbiness and weight. Decently layered in the malt department, as dry crackery malt overlaps the slicker and beefier wheat tang, but there is very little depth to speak of. Finishes clove-spicy and lightly floral, with dull banana notes lingering alongside hints of borderline astringent toasted grain and doughy yeast. Explosiveness as well as subtlety, cleanness and vibrancy (e.g. in this case the hop definition is poor, and the banana character is artificial/taffylike/overripe) are key elements that can make or break this style of beer. Sadly, it lacks all of those features. The wheat is also mushy and the beer is tainted by sulfur notes. Love the open-fermentation approach they took, but I can’t say I am impressed. Was so hoping to love this as one thing the world is lacking is reliably fresh, well-crafted weissbier. Bummer. FROTHINGSLOSH (2038), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy bright golden color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was dryish, wheaty and had notes of clove and bubblegum. The flavor was dryish, musty and wheaty with light elements of clove, banana and bubblegum. The finish was short, tangy and sweetish. Fairly full bodied. Good.
