Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

Cloves and bananas dominate this beer and I like it. Nice orange-ish color. Lovely spice aroma and the taste is great. I have had this on tap and bottled. Both are great.

Pours a cloudy straw color with a good size head. Strong banana aroma. Nice refreshing thirst quencher. Nice soft feel on the palate. Finally a true hefeweizen made in America.

Tasted 8/2/09. 12oz bottle. Activated pour produced two fingers of off-white head. Hazy and sedimented with a golden straw hue. Heady aromas of citrus and candy circus peanuts. Estery with a slight banana note. Medium bodied and rather soft. Silky complexion. Moderate yet tame effervescence. Good grainy cereal wheat note. Crisp finish. Trace hops. Mild spices. This is very easy on the palate! Super smooth and quenching. The banana lingers and shines in the finish. This is very nice!

Bottle. Pours a hazy straw color with a big off-white head. LOTS of ripe bananas in the aroma along with some cloves and hints of orange rinds in the background. Thin to medium-bodied with plenty of carbonation. Crisp and refreshing. Sweet and wheaty upfront taste-wise with some bananas and bubble gum. Tangy orange rinds follow. A touch of lemon at the end.

Pours a bright cloudy lemon rind yellow with a three finger billowy white head. Aroma of lemongrass and barnyard. Nice interplay of sour wheat and estery yeast. More spice and isoamyl acetate than usual. Flavor is spicy, notes of lemongrass, wheat, mild banana and bubblegum. Palate is softly carbonated with a full wheaty mouthfeel.

Pours from the 12 oz bottle a cloudy, opaque golden yellow color with a one finger head that settles into a heavy collar. Kind of hard to see what carbonation may be taking place in the haze. The aroma is floral & spice, with just a faint hint of banana and lemon. 1st sip is initially sweet & crisp, with some spicy clove, a hint of banana, and a tangy, almost citrusy aftertaste. The mouth feel is quite tingly. Drinkability is off the charts, what with the crisp, tart flavor & the relatively low abv. An excellent session beer for the hot, hazy dog days of the summer!!!

Bottle. Pours a cloudy light amber-yellow with a huge fine-bubbled head. Aroma of wheat and bananas with s touch of citrus. Wow, the taste and feel is much softer and more delicate than I expected. Malty, fruity (bananas and citrus) and a bit of cloves, with a touch of bitter at the end. Took me half the glass to pick out the flavors, and this one goes down fast and easy. This beer practically drinks itself, and I could see me consuming a 6-er of these too quickly. That would be perhaps a bit of a shame as the flavors are also worth savoring.
