Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

12 oz bottle from Bier Stein. Pours out a hazy gold with a thick white head. Aroma is hefty on clove and peppery spice with a bit of light banana. Flavor much the same, light wheat but mostly clove and pepper. Very refreshing, would definitely drink again.

Pours hazy golden with white head. Nose is the typical banana/clove but not overly strong with banana. On the palate the banana is weak as well, but plenty of herbal flavors, hops come through too, and a decent clove/spice in the mix. Wheat cracker is present. Carbonation is good and feels fuller bodied than most weissbiers.

Pours opaque copper-ish orange with nice off whiter head. It left a ring of yeast at the bottom of the bottle. The aroma has some lemon acidity, grains, yeast and little else. The taste begins very refreshing with both sweet grains and a modest level of vague hoppy bitterness. By midway is picks up yeast and wheat notes to go along with mild banana and more grains into the finish. Nice.

Wow. Just wow. Easily the best American-made hefe there is. The mouthfeel was probably the kicker for me- so full across the palate and challenging each and every taste bud with good banana and clove loveliness.

Bottle from Siciliano’s Market, Grand Rapids under BIG recomendation from 17thfloor. I’m even drinking it out of a weiss glass Gerrit! Cloudy amber orange with medium, creamy white head. Aroma is wheat, breadiness, citrus, nice balanced hops, some clove and yeast. Flavor is wheat, citrus hops, banana, some clove, nice spiciness, medium sweetness, very dinkable. Medium, creamy body. Very nice, refreshing, really hits the spot.

From the bottle pours a beautiful, glowing, hazy orange-amber colored body. Fine streams of bubbles effervesce towards the surface, sticking tight to the curve of the glass. A tall, foamy, off-white head settles in slowly to a small but dense layer. The aroma shows all the classic hefe signs, including sweet banana, bread yeast, clove, and orange peel. It smells very clean and inviting, quite fruity overall. The flavor mirrors the nose, smooth banana sweetness pairing seamlessly with spicy clove, orange, and lemon pith. The wheat profile is as fresh as can be. Above average hop bitterness lends a distinctly floral bite on the finish. The palate is both smooth and spicy, perhaps just a bit overly saccharine, with fine, tingling carbonation. Overall, a top notch hefeweizen.
