Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

Wow. Just wow. Easily the best American-made hefe there is. The mouthfeel was probably the kicker for me- so full across the palate and challenging each and every taste bud with good banana and clove loveliness.

Bottle from Siciliano’s Market, Grand Rapids under BIG recomendation from 17thfloor. I’m even drinking it out of a weiss glass Gerrit! Cloudy amber orange with medium, creamy white head. Aroma is wheat, breadiness, citrus, nice balanced hops, some clove and yeast. Flavor is wheat, citrus hops, banana, some clove, nice spiciness, medium sweetness, very dinkable. Medium, creamy body. Very nice, refreshing, really hits the spot.

From the bottle pours a beautiful, glowing, hazy orange-amber colored body. Fine streams of bubbles effervesce towards the surface, sticking tight to the curve of the glass. A tall, foamy, off-white head settles in slowly to a small but dense layer. The aroma shows all the classic hefe signs, including sweet banana, bread yeast, clove, and orange peel. It smells very clean and inviting, quite fruity overall. The flavor mirrors the nose, smooth banana sweetness pairing seamlessly with spicy clove, orange, and lemon pith. The wheat profile is as fresh as can be. Above average hop bitterness lends a distinctly floral bite on the finish. The palate is both smooth and spicy, perhaps just a bit overly saccharine, with fine, tingling carbonation. Overall, a top notch hefeweizen.

12 oz. Nearly opaque golden pear-colored with a lasting half inch head. Aroma of banana, lemon and resin. Flavor is the same mix with the resin making a nice dry finish. LIght-medium body is smooth, acidic-tingly and dry.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a pale, opaque gold with a pillowy white head. Wheat, yeast, hay, a little varnish, and some spice in a fairly basic nose. Medium-high carbonation with a light mouthfeel. A little lemon, yeast, dust, clove, and a bit of banana on the palate. Short finish. I found this one to be rather uninspiring. Eh.
