Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

Poured a hazy yellow-gold with a medium sized off-white head and good lasting time. Malty aroma with some banana and yeasty notes. Light citrusy lemon as well. Wheaty lemon flavor with some clove spice in the middle and finish. Heavier than I thought it would be but I drank the whole six pack anyway.

Surprisingly true to the style. Bright & hazy gold pour. Fluffy off white head and drippy lace. Spicy sweet aroma. Citrus, yeast and light gum. Dry finish. Clean and refreshing

Hazy apricot pour with modest white head. Aroma is citrus, nectar and light sugary fruit with banana-clove and apricot. Flavor is wheat malt with some spicy notes and a strong sugary backbone of apricot and banana. Citrus comes through near the finish but doesn’t act to overpower- just provides a nice balancing element. Palate is superb for the style, with a clean dry finihsh. A great example of the style- very well done.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy light orange with a small, foamy white head. Aroma of clove, banana, wheat. Typical hefe but not overly spiced. Light and a touch fruity. Flavor is sweet initially, light and fruity, with a tangy spiciness and citrus. Top notch hefe indeed. 7/4/8/4/15 (3.8/5)

Great golden pour with fluffy white head. Nice clove and banana to smell, some green apples as well. A metallic woody tinge is there. The body is smooth and buttery nice mouthfeel here and easy to drink. The flavor is mouth coating and layered. A nice flavor profile here with obvious spiced fruit notes but also some quiet toasted bits and pieces, light sugar, vanilla and oak. Very tasty.

Beer pours out of the bottle a golden/orange with a very tall, frothy, white head that leaves a ton of lacing on the side of the glass. Aroma is a strong wheat note, a light clove spiciness with some light banana esters and finishes with a strong yeasty note. Flavor has a clove bit at first that quickly fades into a cinnamon spiciness, middle has a heavy yeastiness with a banana fruitiness following it up and melding with the residual spice flavors until the end. Mouth feel is almost spot on, only a tad bit light on the yeast. Overall, as with all of Sierra’s offerings, a very good example of the style.

Best Hefeweizen I’ve had in quite some time. Sierra Nevada nailed this one. Light malty aroma with a big banana and clove scent followed by oranges and strong yeast. Cloudy, vibrant orange-yellow body with a lasting 1" bright white head as well as some thick lacing. Refreshing, light and crisp. Also mildly tart and sweet. Snappy wheat flavor as well as plain biscuits. Fruity oranges, banana and lemon peel. Spicy cloves and earthy yeast. Great one, a near perfect summer beer.
