Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

Pours slightly cloudy straw color with a big white head. Strong banana aroma with some wheat, cloves and pepper. The flavor is a little underwhelming compared to the aroma, wheat with a banana aftertaste. The body is very light, good but not great.

Nice to have something a bit different from Sierra Nevada, a nice classic wheat beer, good for summer, with a distinct cloudy appearance with primarily orangy-banana-like smell and flavor. A bit of bacon drippings even! Moderate white head. Slightly thin on the aftertaste.

Bottle poured a cloudy gold with a lasting creamy white head. Aromas of wheat, yeast, bananas, light bubblegum and light clove. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth finish. Flavors of wheat, yeast, banana and light clove with a smooth yeasty finish.

From bottle. Nice banana clove aroma, bready and yeasty, light and fresh. Light characteristic sulfur notes with malty undertones. Cloudy butterscotch-amber with thin foamy-creamy lacing off-white head. Medium watery body with medium-high carbonation, just short of fizzy. Starts bready and wheaty, with a great classic Hefeweizen flavor. Banana and clove, light carbonic acidity, and clean finish. Very light hop bitterness, almost undetectable. Full in flavor, sweet and refreshing. This is a very nice beer and really captures the essence of good German wheat beer. It could be just a bit more full bodied, but other than that it’s a keeper.

Thanks to andrew for this pour. Hazed yellow white with a creamy off white head. Laces in spots down the glass. Yeast citrus, bread in the nose. Drinkable light malts that are slightly sweet with creamy carbonation. Decent hefe.
