Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

From a 12 oz bottle this poured a very cloudy gold with a very fat white head and thick lacing. Nose of banana and soap. Mouthfeel somewhat thin. Flavor is full of citrus and ripe fruit. Hops in the finish. Fine version of this style.

Bottle. Thick head. Cloudy dark yellow. Banana aroma. Flavour is mostly banana then lemon and yeast. Solid but not spectacular. Appearance and palate keep the score high.

Pours a beautiful hazy gold with plenty of yeast floating throughout; large white head. Aroma of bananas, cloves, soap, and bubblegum. Slightly peppery banana flavor up front with a nice citrus and spicy finish. Very creamy mouthfeel. An excellent American-brewed hefe.

12 oz bottle, though counting on running into a tap somewhere. Egg yolk looking pour as sediment haze is inconsistent, and slowly dissipates. Lemonade yellow to light. With big silky tight-bubbled white head. Aroma of spice, banana, some bubblegum esters and a wheaty-malt base. Some yeasty pizza-dough. Mouth is well. Light, thin, playful. Banana, spice, upfront. Citrusy orange, wheaty mid. Spicy, crisp hop finish. Hefes not a favorite style of mine, but this is pretty satisfying. Good effort by SN.

12 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a hazy light golden color with a two finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is esters and spice. Flavor is light citrus, esters, lightly sweetened malt, light spice, and a bit of yeast. Light to medium body. A nice beer.

Solid brew. One of the most satisfying beers I’ve ever had. First thing I noticed was the warmed banana aroma drifting out of the bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with chunks of live yeast still drifting about (slightly unsettling). First taste to hit the tongue is banana and wheat, followed by yeast, then spicy cloves. The suspended yeast gives a nice, velvety mouthfeel.

Pours a hazy yellow/straw gold with a thick and decently long-lived white, rocky head that leaves a stripes and swaths of lace all over the glass. Tiny bubbles trickle up unendingly. The aroma is very doughy and yeasty bread with some perfumey character and soft fruit - like undercooked banana bread. The flavor is malty and wheaty with a nice floral and fruity ester profile that complements the sweet malts. At mid-tongue there is a pleasant balancing bitterness that is fairly neutral, slightly spicy. The finish is dry with some grainy pilsner malt notes gaining traction along side the wheaty, estery, floral, and lightly sweet flavors that are throughout. The mouthfeel is crisp in carbonation - though not too sudsy (perhaps a touch less carbonation texture than expected) with a light graininess and a medium-full body. Overall, a very enjoyable wheat beer. It’s no Wiehenstephaner, but it is very German tasting and very drinkable and tasty.
