Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

Bottled. An unclear golden beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of wheat and bananas. The flavor is sweet with notes of wheat and lighter notes of banana and citrus, leading to a dry wheaty finish.

12oz bottle, cloudy light amber, smooth white foam, slightly tangy, citrus and spice. I’m not particularly fond of this style but this is certainly the best of the few Hefeweizens I’ve tried.

12oz bottle. Pours murky orange with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is of hops, spice, citrus, malt, and pepper. Taste is of spicy hops and lots of citrus. Has a backbone of bready malt that evens out the spicy hops. There is also lots of pepper as well. Each sip ends with a lingering spiciness and a slight hop burn. The finish is very peppery. The mouthfeel is very carbonated and sticky, reminding me of an orange juice. A very sessionable beer that is refreshing, as well as tasty.

Bottle. Poured with a bright yellow color but completely opaque and hazy, with a gigantic head. The aroma is classic Germany -- banana and yeast. It drinks with the same classical characteristics, quite effervescent and tangy on the palate. A delicious hefeweizen!

Pours a murky yellow orange color with a large foamy/creamy white head that persists for at least 5 minutes then begins to shrink. Nose is sour and slightly rubbery, little bit of rubber ball and new sneaker, but also some tennis ball fuzz, cut banana that is starting to turn, and just a hint of spice. Tastes of lemon zest, creme custard, glazed donut, banana pudding, little bit of spice, and milk, and that delicious metallic taste you get from a particular metal (not sure, have a go at your key ring and see if you find it). Mouthfeel is velvety and the finish is on the sweet side. I’d like to see more of that traditional tangy bite. No wonder this appeals to american palates. Unbelievably quaffable- This is a pint racing beer! I’d keep this around as a staple, well done.

12oz bottle. Pours very hazy creamy gold with a generous soft foam head. Smells of lemony-citrus wheat slightly overpowers the banane and clove. Tastes of lemon, wheat, banana, yeast, and very nicely spiced. Body is great, with perfect carbonation, and creamy soft mouthfeel. Aftertaste is sweet and long lasting. Very refreshing. I’m not a big hefeweisen fan, but this is the best one I’ve had yet.

(12oz bottle) Pours opaque yellow with great head. Nose is sour, clove, plastic, coriander and wheat. The taste has clove, banana, spicy coriander. I understand why people say this is a really good hefe because it is. Is it the best hefe out there? No and in my opinion it isn’t a true German style as others have said. That being said Sierra Nevada knows how to not mess up a beer and this is a great example of their mastery of making good beer. One of the most drinkable beers I’ve had in quite some time, and a perfect addition to summer. Will be in my fridge frequently I imagine.

Pours a pillowy, lacing, white head with a hazy golden straw colored body. Smells and tastes of yeast, banana, and clove. Solid wheat beer.
