Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

Bottle thanks to Rciesla Not a big fan of this hefeweizen. Flavor was dark wheat and slight fruit esters. Will have to try again and pour this into a glass.

Cloudy yellow with nice big white head. Aroma grains- wheat, biscuits, banana, cloves. Good body and smooth. Dry and a bit astringent (in a good way) at the finish. Solid hefeweizen.

Pours very hazy cloudy yellow / orange with a large white fluffy head. The aroma has rich wheat, clove, bananas (but not too much), creamy vanilla and while all of it is there and represented it is gentle and rounded. Medium smooth body with some semi-sharp carbonation that adds to the flavor instead of being distracting. The flavor has more dryness than the aroma with dried bananas, pepper, clove, grainy wheat, light spicy hops - it is clean and crisp. The finish has a good amount of graininess and a touch of citrus acidity. This is a great hefe & it takes a lot for me to say that.

Sierra seems to be doing everything right, style-wise with this hefe: a yeasty, wheaty aroma with hints of lemon and banana; smooth, well rounded taste. Picking up more spices in addition to the flavors suggested by the aroma. Just a little tartness in the lingering aroma. Very nicely executed.

Nice golden yellow haze, fluffy head, looks spot on. The smell is also exactly what you would expect, banana and cloves but nice. Flavor is nice solid hefe, yeasty and delicious. I am not partial to hefeweizens but this is a good example and way too easy to drink. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 07-12-2009 02:10:47

12oz bottle. well it sure does look good. the pour is beyond hazy, more like opaque. a beautiful golden color with lemony edges. a respectably fluffy white head forms on the top of this elixir. typical heffe aroma of ester banana and clove as well as some bread crust and a soft a proper hop aroma. begins with sharp and prickly carbonation that enhances the esters and mild hop character. very dry with no overwhelming sweetness on the finish. lemons and a fresh spiciness are the last flavors to grace the tongue. overall an extremely well crafted beer. very rare that american heffes can even approach the authenticity of the german stuff. cheers to the guys at SN!

wait, swirl the 1/3 left in the bottle? that’s waht I did, and it made for a consistently yeasty pour. body is cloudy deep golden butterscotch color, head is very tall, white, and thick like meringue. aroma is unripe banana, unripe peach, yeasty wheat malt, and faint citrusy bread crust. flavor starts tart dry yeasty wheat malt, some peach pit, and dried lemon rind. then sweet wheaty maltyness, faint banana, and a bit of clove. finish of dry hops and yeasty wheat.
