Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

bOTTLE. Pours cloudy orange with a large head. Smells promising. . .lots of coriander, banana, spice, and papery hops. It’s very tasteful and delicate, not at all blunt or candied. The flavor follows up excellently. It is remarkably similar to Weihenstephaner’s classic example of the style, but doesn’t quite live up to that legen. Still, complex depth of spices, grain, lemon, banana entertain my palate. This is a surprsing offering from Sierra Nevada. I love the brewery, but often when they stray from the standard PNW approach to brewing they falter. This ,however, is win.

Cloudy, golden color. Fruity taste, but little hops. Good American version of a German classic.

Pours a light, hazy orange with moderate white head. Aroma of citrus, spice, banana, yeast, orange. Very well-balanced and refreshing. Would be a very good beer for a summer evening, much less Christmas time!

Bottle->pilsner: Pours a large, creamy, white head atop a hazy and cloudy yellow body. Aroma of molasses, herbs, pine, broth, and bubble gum. The body is medium, texture alcoholic, soft carbonation and finishes bitter. The flavor’l duration is long, being lighlty sweet and acidic and moderately bitter. Another quality (and fairly priced) beer from Sierra Nevada!

Bottle. Banana, lemon, yeast and wheat malt aroma. Cloudy amber-yellow color with nice head. Slightly sweet banana, orange, lemon, and wheat malt. Pretty light body. One of the better US weizens but not spectacular.

Bottle. Has that classic hefeweizen aroma. Clove, citrusy lemon. Cloudy look with a nice white head. Taste also the clove, spicy lemon taste. Really good beer.

This could very well be my favorite hefeweizen I’ve ever had. Pours a golden haze into the glass with a white head. Lots of notes of clove and banana on this one. Nice crisp flavor with bread/bakery feel to it. Finish is very refreshing. Fantastic hefe. Definitely give this one a try.

pours a hazy straw yellow, the banana/clove jumps out at you. smooth in the mouth but seems to have more depth than other hefes i’ve had lately. yeast character is evident but suits the style.
