Commercial Description:
Kellerweis is one of the only American Hefeweizens made using the traditional Bavarian style of open fermentation. This difficult and labor-intensive technique adds uncommon depth and flavor complexity. Our hazy-golden hefeweizen is deeply flavorful, refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. To serve, pour two-thirds into a glass, swirl and pour the rest.

Flaske: Flot orange uklar øl med et kæmpe skumhoved. Dejlig klassisk duft af banan og hvede. Smagen er også banan med et overraskende velhumlet bid. Virkelig en dejlig hefe. Super.

Yellow with a low but dense head. Bubblegum aroma with further notes of orange. The flavour is pretty bavarian in style, banana notes and a bit of koriander too. Nice.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle no. 92221-2002. It pours a milky orange-yellow with a fizzy yet creamy off-white head. The aroma emits clove, wheat, and a something like cough syrup. Despite that odd sounding combination it is really quite enticing. The body is about medium with a smooth texture. The taste is a pleasant clove-filled delight with wheat and a little dryness at the end.

Pours a pale yellow with a touch of slightly puffy white head. Aroma has the standard banana and clove notes, but it’s a bit weak. Flavor is similar, although there is a more noticeable sweet spice. Its life on the tongue was shorter lived than I’d expect. I found this dull. Not really my thing.

Pours cloudy a pale amber with a small head that quickly fades to nothing. Nose shows mostly bready wheat and cloves, with some ripe banana, almost confectionery-like, later. Flavours are mostly the same but quite weak, almost watery, with hardly any finish. A weak and boring bitterness becomes apparent later, but makes the beer no more interesting. Could do with more carbonation. Overall, quite ho-hum, nothing special.

Bottle (small sample). Mmmm - very nice hefeweizen. Clear yellow pour, green apple tart nose. Belgian yeast taste + clove. Good stuff.

Pours hazy orange with a lovely snow white head, looks an absolute treat, though probably darker than the norm for style. Nose is very soapy & bubblegummy. Palate has lively carb but a bit of stickiness still. Finishes with a touch of clove. Definately a good beer & would probably be great fresh, though seems to lack yeast complexity of the real deal. Similar to brewboys hefe which is a good thing, as far as new world hefes go.

Being a big fan of Hefe’s I like this brew. Good sample of the type. Not the best, but for an American version at a good price it is a winner. I love the way Hefeweizens smell and this one is very aromatic. Long in the mouth; the taste has a good hang time.
