My Pale Ale from Sierra Nevada poured glorious golden hay with moments of bright orange and soft ruby hues splashing around. Her final product reminds me of the orange creamsicles of my youth, though sepia-colored memories tell me I maybe enjoyed them less than I remember. Alas, I digress. A soft white head creams gently on top, leaving an intricate patchwork of lace behind. Raising her bounty to my nose, a bursting breeze of freshly cut grass and hay teases and taunts while juicy notes of melon, apples, kiwi, and light lemon are lifted by sweet cereal grains. Yum! The trail of saliva which is slowly creeping down my chin tells me that I have a thirst which must be sated, or the consequences may not be pretty. Immediately, my tastebuds are embraced by her crisp and frothy body while grass and hay abound. Swelling under her hop profile is a sweet undercurrent of melons, kiwi, and apples while a bittering lemon presence nips at the finish. Each quaff is a pleasing repeat of above-mentioned sensory indulgence. Even as my last quaff happily flows down my throat, nothing changes, and for that I am most grateful.

Changes in a beer are usually a welcome experience, but sometimes it is the solid consistency of years of brewing expertise and fine-tuning which satisfies the most when needed. The Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a guaranteed enjoyable quaff, whether on draft or from the bottle and always consistently the same refreshing experience. I am always thankful when there is at least their Pale Ale around to quench my thirst when everything else fails.

Pretty much perfect for the style, providing you prefer a ton of hops. A bit grassy, but mostly floral with just a bit of bitter. Perfect sessionish beer, a standrad for every collection.

Bottle from De Bierkoning. Light hazy golden orange colour, white head. Aroma of fruits, hops, malts. Flavour is light sweet, fruity, toasted malts, caramel, with a nice medium hoppy bitter finish. Seems a bit watery at times, but overall a nice session beer with a slick oily mouthfeel.
