Getting quite into the American Pale Ale’s. Available in my local Tesco, which is nice. Amber gold with medium whiteish head. Smooth caramel malt flavour and aroma, hops, little citrus, a touch weak and slightly thin for my liking. Don’t get me wrong though, I drink quite a bit of this due to it’s availability in the beer wilderness. I do like it. Nothing remarkable really, just plain uncomplicated tastyness.

US trip Aug/Sept 2009 - Nice malty beer with some bitterness, clean and well brewed

Moderately hoppy aroma, hops and a little citrus flavor, dry aftertaste. Nice pal.

I believe this beer is the standard for APAs. So my expectations were high before tasting. So here is the good and the bad being very critical. The aroma was fresh hop with a bit of dish soap. The taste was a good balance of malt and hop, but again, a bit of dish soap bitter. Could this be from the Magnum hops. This did not appeal to me and was hard to get past.

Re-rate, fresh ƒmonth old) bottle from Regional. Pours orangey golden, white head. Subdued hop aroma. Spicey, earthy. The usual malty background. Flavour seems a little weak, a sweet malt with a brief citric hop which leads to a dry citrus hop finish. Nice, but not quite what I was expecting.

bottle: tall weird glass I’ve never seen before: enjoyed this beer on a beautiful Friday before the holiday weekend with an amazing burger (albeit expensive). Thought this was incredibly smooth and creamy, well balanced and easily drinkable. AMple hops on the nose and tastebuds, also nice malts and yeasts. Nothing bad to say about this brew.

Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. I have had the good fortune to have enjoyed this beer on several occasions, and finally got around to rating it as I finished my latest example. It pours a nice deep amber to just slightly light in SRM than a true copper color, with a nice white head that lasts until about mid-drink. Interestingly enough, I get a lot more hop aroma and complexity from the bottled samples of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale than from pints drawn from a keg. In any event, the beer shows a perceptible nose of Cascade hops, giving an inviting aroma of citrus (grapefruit) and a touch of pine. The palate is nicely bitter up front, and is buttressed by a solid and pleasant mid- to backend malt character, followed by a clean finish that is just slightly to the dry end of neutral. Overall, a classic and still revolutionary beer.

Bottle. Pours golden orange with a frothy white head. Aroma is very hoppy with notes of citrus(orange), honey, wheat and caramel. Flavour also has generous hops, is a little grainy and has a little sweetness and a lot more bitterness. Medium bodied, it has a surprisingly long finish and overall is very nice and sessionable.
