gunsho (134), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Mar 30, 2008 i like to think of sierra pale as the friend back in your home town who is always at the bar during holidays. you know he’ll be there, everywhere in fact and while you might not specifically look for him when you go home you know he’ll be there and its comforting. the old satand by that is well balnced, hoppy, fruity and dry. great in the summer at a show or in the backyard tossing boules.
CanIHave4Beers (216), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Oct 13, 2008 Kind of the quintessential American pale ale, which speaks highly for the style. The beer pours with a modest head that shrinks but is retained through most of the glass. The beer is clear and a nice shade of copper. This smells very citrusy, and the aroma is dominated by American aromatic hops mainly cascades. The flavor is less so, and that is well appreciated. Everything about this beer is very well balanced, it is hoppy with nice citrus and spicy notes, but this is balanced by a dry malty flavor that tastes a bit roastier than the look lets on. FunkyBrewster (152), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 11, 2008 Pours an amber red color with a medium sized white head. Aroma is very pine hop based with some noticeable grapefruit and a hint of caramel malts. Flavor starts out very sweet and based on the fruit character but soon turns toward the pine bitterness that sticks to the tongue through the finish which stays pleasantly bitter without becoming too overwhelming. Medium body. A very good example of a classic pale ale with a strong cascade hop presence that really showcases its flavor. patrick820 (69), San Luis Obispo, California, USA Oct 9, 2008 Pours light amber with small very light tan head, slight aroma of hops, flaovr is slightly bitter piny hops, with a little maltyness, high carbonation, feels nice in the mouth. Steely (37), , Sweden Oct 4, 2008 Pours a light amber yeast-hazy color with thin white head. Fresh aroma with citrus and some sweet fruitiness. Refreshing flavor with citrus and a light grapefruit hop-bitter finish. tgncc (299), Bellmore, New York, USA Oct 2, 2008 Decent piney hop aroma, not very strong. The color is amber, white head. This is typical for the pale ale style. The flavor is of caramel malts, and a gentle hop balance. The finish is a light touch of citrus hops. Perfectly ok, middle of the road pale ale. A bit watery.
