| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 13, 2006 Draft at DRE. Dark straw pour with a hoppy, somewhat piney, and tart fruity aroma. Medium palate, with a hoppy fruity taste that gets a bit tart and resiny as it warms. Not bad, but a bit of a letdown. Earlier Rating: 6/6/2006 Total Score: 4.1 I found this one to be a tad better than the bottled version. Copper colored, with the noble hop aroma and taste, backed by a firm malt bill. Sometimes you walk into a bar that doesn’t have a decent beer in sight....except for SN Pale Ale. In those cases, I’m more than happy to have a few of these. hindan02 (24), macomb, Michigan, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 6, 2006 Sampled draft at Barcade in Brooklyn, NY towards the end of a tasting day, however this beer stood out as the most suprising of the day. What suprised me? It seemed that SN had showed some restraint in the hopping of this beer! the aroma was nicely floral but backed with hints of toffee and caramel from srystal and english malts. The flavor was on par with what I would expect from an english ESB except with a SN twist! Some upfront hoppiness but restrained to allow the malt character come thru. The finish was appropiately balanced slightly towards the malt which made the beer that much more suprising! Of the 15 or so beers I had that day, the most suprising and the most out-of-character beer I’ve had from Sierra Nevada. mjg74 (1997), La Mesa, California, USA
