Jul 27, 2006 Draft at the Acorn. Pours a big yellow fizz with a little ol’ white froth atop. Not a pretty picture without an open mind (the waitress wisely warned us about the industrial look of it). Sweet grassy on the nose, some green apple there too. Super easy drinking, light body, medium carb. Some nut in the finish, a little butterscotch on the mid palate. When it’s cold, this is just a guzzler, despite the ABV.

Jul 23, 2006 Draft at San Diego Brewing Company. Golden amber color with little head. Aromas were very sweet with some bready nose too. Flavors were still bock sweet with some yeasty bread in there. Not too bad

May 1, 2006 On tap at Russel’s, Bloomsburg PA. Pours a clear pale gold color with a minimal fizzy white head. Aroma is of sweet malt, light hoppiness, and light alcohol. Flavor is mainly pale malt, and lots of it. Light hops after warming up significantly. Very smooth with a lingering sweet finish. Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation, slightly sticky on the finish. Pretty good, very clean malt profile and nice mouthfeel.

Apr 27, 2006 Poured golden with a thick white head. Good head retention. Hints of honey, caramel and orange were in the aroma. Some apricot showed up in the taste. Overall pretty good. There was a definite American biterness in this Bock Bier.

Apr 23, 2006 On tap at the Map Room: Nice golden color, small head. Light hoppy nose. A bit apricoty, then a light hoppy grass taste which lasts medium long. Nice one.

Apr 22, 2006 Light nose, gold color, sticky tight bubbled head. Light honey malt, fruity too - apples. Low bitter, but a broad tingly across the mouth. Fine lager for the New World. SN has many big beers, but this one shows they can also turn out a classy, sophisticated brew too.

Apr 14, 2006 Tap at Barclays. Pours with an ornage color and a small head. Looks clear. The aroma is not discernible at all, after warming up a bit one could sense a light mustiness. Sweet lavors of orange and lemon, the alcohol shines through fairly heavily. Carbonation is just right and the palate is pleasant. This beer can be charcterized as a mixture of lager and bock, I would say.
