A beer I’ve been looking to rate for awhile, without grabbing the whole 6 pack. Bottle pours a very nice blackish brown, dark bodied, with big light tannish bubbly head that dissipates. Laces moderately. Aromas are muted, lighter roasted malts, chocolate, and light hoppy bouquet. A little dissappointing in that respect. Initial is a lighter bodied porter, with light roasted malts, vanilla, and vague coffee bitterness. A touch of fruity sweetness in the body and vague hoppiness. A little light bodied, but creamy and no harsh roast or bitterness. Quite quaffable on a sessionable level. A bit soft. Finish leaves light hoppy bitterness and a touch of creamy sweetness on the palate. Bitterness and very light roast aftertaste. Not bad, not special, but different than expected for sure. Not something I would revisit. Kalli (480), Falun, Sweden
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 18, 2009 The aroma carries vanilla such as from a dark chocolate. Roastiness, bread along with something sweeter that follows the noticable alcohol.
Softer and milder than expected. Vanilla, some smoke and very soft roastiness. Thins out a bit and rather trails off rather than finishing. kragelund (50), , Denmark

Evenly roasty and nutty with just the right amount of residual sweetness. $2/12oz hodgey1 (9), Edinboro, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 9, 2009 I was very surprised by this beer. I have not been a big Sierra fan, I find most of their beers to be lacking but not this one. It is a great example of a incredible Porter. Balanced perfectly, with the malt flavor and bitterness, a little coffee and Carmel. Yum! Cavie (1443), Fort Worth, Texas, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 6, 2009 Cinnamon, juniper, and licorice aroma. Flat, coffee black appearance with lasting creamy residue. Heavy dark malt, almonds, oak, with metallic finish. Incredibly basic. It’s hard not to compare it to better porters, but it’s good in its simplicity.
