2nd July 2008. A light porter with a mild toasty malt and a distinct chocolate tone. Not too dry and no bitterness.

THOUGHTS: Great porter. I’ve head a few that were better, but a bunch that weren’t as good. It was both roasty and sweet. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark brown with bright red highlights and a large, off-white head that kept a nice sheet and left excellent lacing. The aroma was moderate to heavy roasted malt and coffee, slight milk chocolate and a little dark fruit. The initial flavor was sweet and a little acidic; while the finish was rather sweet, acidic, lightly sour and slightly bitter with a fairly short duration. There was chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, bitter chocolate, sour coffee and hints of hops. The medium body was somewhat oily and then fairly dry with fizzy carbonation and a dry, lightly astringent and lightly chalky finish.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Norfolk. Dark brown cola-like pour with a thick off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and molasses. Smoky flavor with some dark chocolate and coffee. As far as common beers go this is one is pretty hard to beat. I love a good porter and this is one of the better ones.
