Rich russet colour with a strongly alcoholic aroma and a decent weight in the mouth. Good flavours of smoky, chocolatey malts. Nice enough. ucusty (1915), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

Pours a nice dark and hazy honey brown with an active and tall white head that doesn’t leave much lacing. It smells like a typical wheat beer with a spicy (a bit of nutmeg), slightly citrusy body. Flavor is soft and refreshing, as par usual with wheat brews but with some unique subtleties including a grape/cherry flavor on the finish. The alcohol is hidden remarkably well. It is light bodied with tingly carbonation on the palate. Overall: great refreshing brew that is dangerously drinkable. Great for the summer. vulcanmeister (104), La Grande, Oregon, USA

Taste is roast malt and dark chocolate. Mouth feel is a bit light but not bad. Rich coffee, caramel, and burnt malt finish that lasts and lasts. Most enjoyable.

Wonderful, complex flavor with fresh hops shining through the cocoa and coffee flavors of the malts. The mouth feel is a bit thin, though. A bit more intensity of flavor and more of a lasting finish would improve this beer immensly. cathcacr (592), Portland, Oregon, USA

I love Porters, and this is a good example of why you, too, should love Porters. Great balance between subdued chocolatey sweetness and coffeeey roastiness. Medium bodied and smooth in flow. A fine mainstream standard-bearer for this wonderful style. Why did it take so long for me to try this?
