| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 27, 2008 12oz bottle. poured ruby red-brown with no head. Smells of licorice and coffee, and hops. Mouthful was on the thin side, with nice bitter hoppy finish. Not spectacular, but a very drinkable quality beer. mgermani (865), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 27, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a nice tan head & lots of lacing. Aroma is very, very faint brown ale, kind of brewpubby (if that makes any sense). Tastes of chocolate malt & molasses, and American/citrusy hops. Hmmm. Nice warming finish, good creamy body with great carbonation. I can’t say this porter speaks to me, it seems more like a good brown ale - lacking in roastiness & depth. Interesting. keith0718 (159), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Mar 25, 2008 A well balanced beer with perfectly suited and even carbonation. Very drinkable, but very ho-hum as well. Nothing special about the malt character of this porter--no toasty, buttery maple/caramel flavors, which I seek in my porters, stand out to speak of. killjoy966 (221), Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 24, 2008 Decent porter. Tastes a bit like the Deschutes Black Butte but with a little less flavor. The pale ale and ESB from Sierra Nevada are better. bpowers (24), USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2008 12 oz bottle. Poured a dark brown/black with a 1-2 finger fizzy tan head. Aroma was predominately of toasted malts with some notes of caramel and the faintest hop aroma. Taste was much the same. The taste of toasted malts were upfront and strong (the dominant flavor) and it finished with some bitter hops and smooth caramel notes. Finish was surprisingly crisp and clean. Palate was surprisingly thin and fizzy. Not the syrupy porters I was used to. This makes it an interesting beer. It has the really nice toasty malt taste but also “finishes clean” (to borrow a Bud Select term) which makes it much more drinkable than some of the heavier porters out there. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Brown with a dense, big head. Nice aroma of roasted malts. The flavours are sweet: chocolate, coffee and bit of liquorice finished by a nice bitter feeling. Very nice! golubj (1289), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2008 Draft at d.b.a. Dark brown pour with a little head. Aroma is roasted / lightly burnt malt (almost smoked) and chocolate malt. Flavor is similar with a slightly creamy mouthfeel and the burnt / roasted malt dominating. Nicely done for a standard porter. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA
