| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 16, 2007 Tremendous beer. Although its like comparing apples and oranges I found this to be vastly superior to the more common pale ale. Bottle, pours a dark typical porter color with medium head. Aroma is of chocolate but not as strong as I would have expected. However the flavor and palate are marvelous. Full bodied and just fills your mouth and the flavor is a very good chocolate/coffee mix. One of the best american beers I have had the pleasure of drinking in a while. yalnikim (782), Wellington, New Zealand

Sipped on this during the Bob Dylan doco ’No Direction Home’. No notes but the memory is still fresh. Excellent balance of chocolate, a little ash and delicious orangey hops. Liquified crust of a yummy orange chocolate cake. Nice lingering bitterness, with a lovely hop flavour in tow. Looks good, tastes good. The day after drinking this I received the ultimate compliment, in having my own American-style Stout compared to Sierra Nevada Porter. As tenuous as the comparison may have been, I was pretty chuffed. Drink this beer, if you find it. mistersinalin (378), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA

LIghtly roasted barley, chocolate, and molasses. Slight hint of hops. Medium bodied with a high drinkability for a porter. Creamy texture in the mouth with a clean finish.
