Uniformly brown with a very nice head and some lacing. Aromas are dominated by chocolate and grains. Lots of carbination, rough on the palate, with a lot of acidity that reaches the jaw with a thin composition of body. More roasted than chocolate on the flavor. Aggressive hopping.

Bottle
Pours black with a small light tan head. Smell was roasty malts, and bit of chalky chocolate mostly. Taste was very balanced, and had a noticeable hop presence but didn’t come off overly hopped or metallic, like I find some hoppy dark beers do. Quite good flavor, although somewhat mild, and a nice porter in all. Will definitely try again when not in a smoke-filled bar.

This brew is extremely scumptuous. Pours a dark black with a fluffy white head which leaves a trail of lace down the side of the glass. Smells of espresso, cofee, chocolate, malt and a hint of hops. The flavor is mainly chocolate and espresso. Not an overpowering brew but a very solid beer to sit around and savour with a lusty enthusiasm. Highly recommended.

Bottle. Dark brown with a light tan head. Chocolate and smoky aroma. Body is relatively light for the style. I prefer a porter with a fuller body. Taste a little watery too.

Pours brow with a tan head. Smells soapy with some chocolate and caramel. Tastes of caramel, roasted malt and molasses. Thin body. Not very exciting.

12oz. bottle into pint. Pours a dark brown with a thick, tan head that stays forever. Aromas of roasted malts and some chocolate. Has a strong flavor of caramel, coffee beans, and some malt. Has a very thick, full-bodied mouthfeel that is wonderful to experience. Top-notch porter.

Pours a dark brown. Thick head. It is a red color when held up to light. Smells like chocolate and malt once again. Tastes similar as well. Tingling on the palate with a slight zing of bitter when swallowed. Malt finish.

bottle. excellent porter. Sierra Nevada puts out some damn good beer - these guys know what they are doing... they pay so much attention to quality and it shows though. pours a dark brown - black with a 1/4" tan head which becomes a nice lacing. Aromas of malts and chocolate. medium body, with average to low carbonation. the finish is nice and full of chocolate/coffee/malts. solid beer.
