Bottle. Pours a clear red-brown body with tan head. Aroma of chocolate, malts, and bread. Flavor is more of the same with roasted malts near the finish and a light, green hop bitterness through the entire palate. Body is a little light for a porter.

Sep 7, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium light tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, dark chocolate, hint of coffee. Roasty flavor with hints of coffee and bitter chocolate. Some lingering roasted flavor. A decent porter, but not too special.

Sep 5, 2008 Poured a very dark brown woth a light tan head. Aroma was a bit mild and drawn back, but contains roasted malts, light chocolate, and some hops. Flavor is also subdued, decent blend of sweet chocolate, roastiness and hops, but too watery.

Sep 4, 2008 I’m not going to compare this beer to vegatables or coffee drinks. This is a wonderful porter with an excellent frothy head and full of character. American brewers produce the finest porters in the World and this one is at the top of the list.

Aug 28, 2008 Updated: Aug 31, 2008Solid brown pour, cream colored head. Smells roasty malt and nut. Roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, but Is not real pronounced in any of it’s characteristics, roast malt stands out the most. Maybe a bit too much hop character and carbonation for the style. Seems like I used to be more fond of this one.

does not count  Aug 28, 2008 Strong malt notes with nice hints of coffee and a full body. Enjoyed this one with a spicy goat cheese pizza... provided for a nice balance. Lovely black velvet colouring. Looking forward to trying this one again.
