rayg1 (404), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA Aug 25, 2007 On tap in Charlotte. This stuff wasn’t bad at all. Pours a hazy yellowish brown with a big head on it. In the aroma I didn’t smell any smoke at all actually kind of weird really just some sweet malts. As soon as I took a sip I realized that the smoke on this was very light and actually kind of nice. Toasty and lightly burnt flavors are balance by a touch of sweetness before bitter hops. Not bad for my first smoked. ross (1511), charlotte, North Carolina, USA Aug 25, 2007 On tap in Charlotte. Ugh not really that great. Lighter on the smoke side, but too smokey for me to enjoy it. Yellow looking pour, thick white head. Smoked flavor, not so much as a typical smoked though, but enough smoke that I did not find it too pleasing. When compared to something like Alaskan smoked, this has no chance. Interesting beer though, even for a smoked. UofFkid (108), Orlando, Florida, USA May 25, 2007 Tap. Was served offering in spoiled glass. Either the glass had been recently washed, anyways beer came across tasting like bad perfume. Spoiled was to have been great brew. puzzl (1715), New York, New York, USA May 20, 2007 Draft at Blind Tiger. Murky brown pour with nice lacing. Aroma is slight roast, chocolate, a touch of smoke... more the smoke you’d smell from a campfire than a traditional peat smoke or the whole bacon thing you usually get in smoked beers. There is more of the peat in the flavor, with slight sweetness. Very lethargic. Fruitiness comes out as the beer warms. gottalottaibu (235), charlotte, North Carolina, USA May 7, 2007 amber brown witha tiny head. big smoky aroma of sausage. smoked meated flavor up front but quickly smooths out with a light sweet undertone and finishes very smoothly with little to no carbonation. was not bad but I am not a big fan of smoked beers and the aroma of smoked meat with its initial flavor throws me off.
