Commercial Description:
This ale marks our journey to the only place on the planet where fresh hops are harvested in our spring, the Southern Hemisphere. Our task was daunting-we needed to get the hops picked, dried, flown halfway across the world and into our brew kettle in a little over a week's time. The result is a North-by-South fusion of fresh New Zealand hops blended with the finest North American malts. Its robust hop character presents an intriguing floral-citrus aroma leading to layers of fresh-hop spiciness. Enjoy!

Amber coloured body. Aroma of mild hoppy fruits. Fresh flavour of berries, piney hops and hints of earth malts, overlaid by lighter notes of spices. Firm bitter finish. Dry mouthfeel and well bodied. Cask, one-third pint glass at GBBF, 04.08.2009

The 2009 edition, a stubby 24 oz. bomber. Appearance is cloudy, illuminated orange. Massive soapy head. Clear with tiny bubbles. Looks like everything you’d want in the look of an IPA. Thick gobs of snowy lace. The aroma is a citrusy resin hop. Perfumey and a little grassy; complex hop character. Malts are obscured, but an earthy malt appears. The taste is hops that run the gamut from bitter to flowery, perfumey adn then a hint of citrus. Very nice and pretty refreshing. The feel is milky and dense. Has the feel of a creamy Imperial IPA. It’s a damn solid IPA. Nice-bodied and easy to slug down. No burn and very little bite.

Appearance is amber with a thick off white head. Aroma is hops with a little pine resin undertone. Flavor is mostly hops up front, with a little of that sticky, resin type flavor noticeable in the aroma. Finishes with a decent malt presence to balance out the hops. Overall, very well balanced and drinkable, but there should be enough hops to please hopheads without being too overwhelming.

Cask at GBBF 2009: good IPA, very hoppy, mainly oranges, mandarines, cirtus peels, a little acidic, sweetish malt all the way, nice one.

This is a Tasty, Tasty Ale. It was my first of this type. An excellent aroma of citrus with a wonderful frothy white head. The clear golden color was very inviting. The slighly bitter aftertaste lets you know you just had a highly hopped ale. The 24 oz bottle means that you have a beverage to enjoy for awhile. This is one my highest rated beers lately. It was purchased at the Whole Foods in Short Pump.

2009 bottle. Pours a dark copper color, clear, with a small white foamy head. Nose is sappy resin hops with some light caramel sweet malt. Palate is medium bodied with a nice stickyness to it. Flavors are sappy resiny hops with a caramel and light tofee sweetness and a crisp, almost dry finish with a small bite.

Pours a amber brown with a creamy off-white head. aroma is of citrus, pine, fruit, and some carmel. flavor is nice and hoppy with pine and grapefruit, fruit, and herbs from the fresh hops. but it also has alot of roasted malt and carmel flavor. has a nice, dry finnish with a medium mouthfeel. overall, a very good, well balanced IPA.
