Medium amber body with a large, frothy, off-white head that slowly diminished. The aroma if full of orange, citrus, toasted grain and hay. Hint of caramel. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Long, bitter aftertaste. Medium body with a rich, velvety texture and lively carbonation. Enough of a malty backbone to the lingering bitter taste to keep this from being totally a hop bomb. But it’s close. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 11, 2009 2009: Pours an amber orange with bubbley 1 inch white-orange head that settles to a thick froath. Smell of citrus (lemon-lime), little earthy pine, and malts. Tastes of sweet sticky citri-hops, little caramel, more malt than I expected, long bitter aftertaste. Decent, would buy again - next year. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 8, 2009 Got this at Sunset Bar & Grille in Boston. Medium amber with a fluffy white head. Earthy and wooden hops hit you in the nose. As most SN beers, this one is moderately well-hopped. Some sweet tastes are present throughout. Citrus notes are of course present throughout as well. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2009 24oz bottle from Premier in Buffalo; aroma is a soft hop nose; appearance is a gold amber body with a craggy white foamy head; tonnes of bubbles beading in this one; fine taste with hops clear and throughout, then malt sweetness (maple, vanilla, caramel) evident; palate is on the crisp side, burning almost, but it settles down. Overall, a nice ale...not exactly fitting into the 100 mile diet, but that’s ok.
